Man arrested for not complying with sex offender registry

An investigation on South Clay Street Saturday night led to the arrest of a local man for not complying with the sex offender registry.

Hopkinsville police officers were called to an apartment in the 700 block of South Clay Street for a disturbance shortly after 7 p.m. and made contact with 50-year old Randolph Thomas, who had a Pembroke address listed on the sex offender registry.

Thomas reportedly told officers he had been living with his girlfriend on South Clay Street for six months, helping to pay the bills.

When asked about the Pembroke address on the registry, an arrest citation says he changed his story and said he was only visiting the South Clay Street apartment.

He was arrested and charged with failure to comply with the sex offender registry and failure to notify the Department of Transportation of an address change.

Thomas was previously convicted in Michigan of attempted sexual assault against a 17-year old, according to the Kentucky Sex Offender Registry website.
