Pennyrile Electric and the other 25 electric cooperatives in Kentucky are readying for possible deployment to areas impacted by Hurricane Dorian over the next few days.
Joe Arnold of Kentucky Electric Cooperatives says those entities are preparing to provide mutual aid, if called upon by utilities in the storm’s path. He says there have been daily conference calls with cooperative organizations in the southeastern United States.
Lineworkers from Pennyrile Electric and from across Kentucky have responded to numerous locations in the region over the last several years, providing mutual aid after hurricanes, tornadoes and ice storms.
More than 160 Louisville Gas and Electric and Kentucky Utilties workers are staging outside the impact zone and await orders from Florida power officials. KU services several areas in western Kentucky, including Crofton.
