Man charged with criminal mischief, woman with hindering prosecution

The Hopkinsville Police Department arrested a Hopkinsville man on strength of a warrant early Friday morning and charged a woman with hindering prosecution.

According to the police reports, officers responded to a North O’Neal Avenue residence in an attempt to locate 42-year old Datorian Caswell of Hopkinsville and serve with an arrest warrant for first-degree criminal mischief.  The warrant alleges that Caswell, along with 33-year old Tiemisha Merritt of Hopkinsville, used a baseball bat to cause extensive damage to the victim’s vehicle.  The windows on the vehicle were reportedly busted out and multiple dents put into it.

Upon arrival at the home, Merritt reportedly denied that Caswell was in the home and was told that if he was found there she could face charges. A search warrant was obtained and Caswell was located inside and taken into custody.

He was additionally served with warrants for failure to pay.  Merritt had already been charged with criminal mischief, and now faces an additional charge of hindering prosecution.
