Matt Jones has formed an exploratory committee as he continues to contemplate a run for the U.S. Senate next year.
The Democrat who hosts Kentucky Sports Radio said at the beginning of Thursday’s show that he will be traveling the state the next few weeks and will use that time to make a decision on whether to challenge Amy McGrath for the party’s nomination. The winner would face Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell in the 2020 general election.
Jones says the committee will allow him to do polling and other necessary work.
He said he expects to decide whether he will run soon after the statewide election this November.
