The deadline has been extended until Friday afternoon for local teens considering applying for Hopkinsville Mayor Carter Hendricks’ Youth Council.
High school juniors and seniors from Christian County public, private and home schools are urged to apply for a position on the youth council. Serving on the council gives students an opportunity to have a voice in the community, to offer solutions and to present ideas to local government.
Applications must be turned in by 4:30 p.m. Friday and must include a completed application form, an essay, two letters of recommendation, signed parental consent form and a photo.
Applications can be hand delivered to the Hopkinsville Municipal Building or emailed to Idalia Luna at the City of Hopkinsville.
Youth Council member interviews will be conducted between September 3 and 6. Selection notices will be sent to all applicants by September 11 before the mandatory orientation scheduled for Wednesday, September 18 from 4pm until 7:30pm.
