Clarksville PD charges 14 with DUI over the weekend

Fourteen people were charged with DUIs in Clarksville over the weekend and the Clarksville Police Department is urging the public to stay out from behind the wheel of a vehicle if you’re going to drink alcohol.

Four out of 14 DUIs involved motor vehicle crashes and the other 10 included factors such as failure to maintain lane of travel or swerving, a driver overdosing and police were called to assist, a vehicle driving on the wrong side of road and more. Two of those arrested had previous DUI and the ages ranged from 22 to 67 years old, and the majority of the incidents occurred between 9:30 p.m. and 4 a.m. those nights.

The Clarksville Police Department says they are committed taking impaired or intoxicated drivers off the streets and that they will be out in force, along with other local law enforcement agencies, over the Labor Day weekend as part of the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign.
