Greenville woman killed in UTV collision, two charged with murder

A Greenville woman was killed and two other people were seriously injured early Sunday morning in a collision of two UTV’s near Centertown in Ohio County and the drivers of both vehicles were charged with murder.

It happened about 1 a.m. on a gravel haul road near KY 85, according to Kentucky State Police, who identify the drivers of the side-by-side UTV’s as 25-year old Zachary Barker of Utica and 51-year old James Rone of Centertown.

Police say Barker failed to see Rone attempting to pass him and steered his vehicle into the driver’s side rear of Rone’s UTV. The collision caused Rone’s vehicle to overturn multiple times and his passengers—39-year old Ashley Carver of Greenville, 44-year old Tonya Rone of Centertown and a 10-year old juvenile—were all ejected.

Carver was pronounced dead at the scene, while Tonya Rone and the juvenile were flown to St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville for life-threatening injuries.

Troopers determined that Barker and Rone were allegedly under the influence of alcohol and both were arrested and charged with murder, first-degree assault, first-degree wanton endangerment and aggravated DUI.

Police also arrested 49-year old Gregory Barker of Hartford for obstructing emergency responders, menacing and disorderly conduct.
