Todd County Fiscal Court voted to keep the property tax rate the same Friday morning and remembered Todd County Clerk Leslie Cunningham, who died August 11 following a battle with cancer.
Longtime Deputy Clerk Cindy O’Bryan was sworn in last week as clerk following appointment by Judge-Executive Todd Mansfield and says Cunningham was loved and is missed by many.
It’s the second time O’Bryan has been appointed clerk and she says she’ll work as hard as she can for Todd County.
Meanwhile, magistrates unanimously approved first reading of an ordinance to keep the tax rate on real property at 9.9 cents per $100 of assessed value—with Judge Mansfield saying there was no need to look at a tax increase this year.
First reading of a vicious animal ordinance was also approved. It specifies criteria that can be used to classify a roaming dog or other animal as ‘vicious.’ The parameters include unprovoked bites to humans or other domestic animals and unprovoked animals acting in a terrorizing manner toward a person in a place outside of its owner’s property.
Owners of vicious animals could be cited for amounts between 25 and 250 dollars and could potentially face up to 90 days in jail.
Magistrates also approved the purchase of a security camera system for the Todd County Senior Center following recent burglaries at that facility.
Judge Mansfield appointed Brian Withers, Tim Prather, Jerry Simons, Bill Johnson, Keith Sharp and Steve Wilson to the Todd County Airport Bord.
