Music, vendors, food and places for kids to play have taken over downtown Hopkinsville, as the Summer Salute Festival got underway Friday and continues into Saturday.
Around 90 vendors of all types line the streets and the sounds of music will fill the air throughout the weekend, and Parks and Recreation Events Coordinator Toby Hudson says people will find plenty to do, especially now that the rain has left the area.
He says everything is free, besides the purchasing of food and other items, including the main concert Saturday night with headliner Joe Diffie.
Visitor’s Bureau Executive Director Brooke Jung says the Summer Salute brings in more than the locals—some who went to the festival in 2017 for the total solar eclipse have made return trips.
Officials say this year they listened to feedback from the community and have brought in more food vendors to help eliminate long lines and now have more activities for kids to participate in as well. For a full list of events, go online to hoptownsummersalute.com.
