Summer Salute takes over downtown Hopkinsville this weekend

Downtown Hopkinsville will be filled with music, food and people enjoying the fourth annual Summer Salute Festival, which gets underway Friday morning and continues into Saturday night.

Officials with the Parks and Recreation Department appeared on WHOP Wednesday, and Toby Hudson says that along with the live music shows, the streets will be lined with approximately 90 vendors.

He says that a slew of activities will take place throughout the weekend, including kid zones, toy train rides, laser tag and more—and all of it is free.

Hudson urged people to remember that several streets will be closed but Main Street will only be restricted to one lane to allow for some traffic flow, so motorists are asked to use caution while traveling in the area.

The gates open at 10 a.m. on Friday and Superintendent Tab Brockman invited people to come downtown and eat lunch before the big crowds come in.  For more information, or for a full event schedule, go online to hoptownsummersalute.com.
