A woman asleep in a vehicle woke up to a burglar rummaging through the trunk early Sunday morning in Clarksville and police were able to arrest the suspect.
It happened about 6:30 a.m. at a gas station on Dover Road, according to a news release from Clarksville police, which says the woman screamed and alerted the driver of the vehicle who had gone inside.
He came outside and found that the male suspect with a backpack had stolen at tool kit from the trunk. The driver attempted to chase the suspect who was on a bicycle, but was unable to catch him.
Clarksville police officers searched the area and located the suspect, identified as 46-year old Abdul Sabree, and arrested him for theft from a vehicle.
Police say Sabree had opened the vehicle and used the trunk release latch while the woman was asleep.
