A man sought on a Kentucky warrant is facing new charges in Clarksville after he allegedly ran from police and bit an officer during a struggle.
Officers responded to the Governors’ Square Mall about 5:30 p.m. Friday for a report of a man taking a female acquaintance’s phone, smashing it and then running away.
Police made contact with 21-year old Tarvaris Wiliams of Clarksville following a foot pursuit and he was initially cooperative, according to a news release. He began resisting and pulling away as officers attempted to take him into custody and allegedly bit an officer who was attempting to handcuff him.
A taser was eventually used to subdue Williams, who is charged with vandalism, evading and assault. He’s also awaiting extradition to Kentucky for violating a court order, according to Clarksville police.
