After years of waiting, construction and a lengthy capital campaign, the Hopkinsville Community College Emerging Technologies Building is set to open soon and donors got a special look at the building that will soon house students Friday evening.
The 45,000 square foot facility features ample state-of-the-art classroom space, study areas, sleek steel architecture and numerous lecture halls. HCC President and CEO Dr. Alissa Young says none of it would have been possible without the donors—who invested in more than a building, but also the future.
Eston Glover co-chaired the capital campaign efforts and says it’s an honor to have been involved in something that will benefit students for years to come.
Co-chair Terri Henderson wrote and recited a poem, saying that people will come to HCC to learn and invest in their lives.
The building has plaques throughout that names each donor and what space is named for them, and a centerpiece of the space includes the original Hopkinsville Community College sign, which was donated back to the college by historian William Turner. A ribbon cutting is set for August 29 at 12 p.m. and the public is invited to attend.
