Man charged with felony assault against woman

A Hopkinsville man was arrested Monday night for felony assault after he allegedly punched a woman several times and threw her over a railing.

The arrest citation for 45-year old Robert Lafon of Hopkinsville says officers responded to a Walnut Street residence about 7:40 and found the 49-year old female victim with swollen eye sockets, swollen lips and a laceration to her hand.

She was interviewed at Jennie Stuart Medical Center, where she reportedly told officers Lafon had become angry at her and punched her multiple times with a closed fist to the face. She said Lafon threw her over a railing and then continued striking her.

Lafon was still inside the home when police arrived and he was arrested for second-degree assault.
