Murray man killed in Calloway Co. collision

The Calloway County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a wreck on US Highway 641 that killed a Murray man operating a moped.

According to a news release, officers responded to the area of Flint Road on Highway 641 on Sunday around 10:40 p.m. for reports of a collision involving a moped.  Investigation determined that 43-year old Rodney Harness of Paducah had been operating a vehicle south on 641 and reportedly failed to see a moped traveling the same direction and struck it from the rear.

The driver of the moped, 61-year old Dexter Slaughter of Murray, was pronounced dead at the scene. Deputy Corey Keene is investigating and was assisted at the scene by Murray-Calloway County EMS, the Calloway County Coroner and Calloway County Fire-Rescue.
