U.S. Senator Rand Paul of Bowling Green had surgery over the weekend to remove a portion of his lung damaged in a 2017 assault by his neighbor.
Senator Paul tweeted Monday morning, saying he should be able to return to the Senate in September.
He had the surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville and praised personnel there who were involved in his procedure.
Unfortunately, I will have to limit my August activities. Part of my lung damaged by the 2017 assault had to be removed by surgery this weekend. The doctors, nurses, & staff at Vanderbilt University Medical Center were great. I should be able to return to the Senate in September
