Clarksville police have released additional details on a man who allegedly stole a car at a Missouri rest area Sunday and led police on a high speed pursuit across multiple western Kentucky counties into Tennessee.

Police say 19-year old James Pitts is a white male, standing 5-7 and he weighs about 130 lbs. and his hair is possibly highlighted. Police believe him to be from Hickman County, Tennessee and he is wanted on a probation violation warrant from his home county.

He’s also facing multiple felony charges in Kentucky after leading several agencies on the pursuit along I-24 that exceeded speeds of 100 mph.

The stolen BMW crashed near Exit 1 in Montgomery County and the suspect driving it fled on foot and was never located.

Anyone knowing Pitts’ whereabouts should call Clarksville Crime Stoppers at 931-645-TIPS.

As previously reported, the stolen car had kittens inside that were turned over to Montgomery County Animal Control until the owner could come to Tennessee to pick them up. They were unharmed in the crash.
