HPD arrests man on kidnapping, sexual abuse charges

Hopkinsville police arrested a man on kidnapping and sexual abuse charges following an investigation Saturday night on Donna Drive.

Officers were called to check the welfare of a juvenile female at a home in the 100 block of Donna just before midnight and she walked out of the front of the home as police arrived.

An arrest citation says the juvenile had blood on her shirt and marks around her neck.

After initially telling a different story about the circumstances of her being there, she eventually told police that 19-year old Trevarius Daniels of Hopkinsville had choked her with his hands and had not allowed her to leave when friends arrived to pick her up earlier in the evening.

She said she and Daniels had engaged in sex and that Daniels became angry when she wanted to leave, causing a disturbance.

Daniels was convinced to come outside and talked to police, but police say his version of the story did not include details that would incriminate him.

He was arrested and charged with kidnapping of a minor, second-degree sexual abuse and strangulation in the first-degree.
