Hoppers take game 1 of the OVL Championship Series

Hoptown Hoppers defeated Dubois County Bombers 6-4 on Friday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at four with Hoptown Hoppers batting in the bottom of the eighth when Hunter Evans homered on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.

Hoptown Hoppers earned the victory despite allowing Dubois County Bombers to score three runs in the second inning. Easton Stewart, Chase Hug, and Tyler Best all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Dubois County Bombers got things started in the first inning when Tyler Van Pelt singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run. Tyler Walton led the Hoptown Hoppers to victory on the pitcher’s mound. He allowed two hits and zero runs over three and a third innings, striking out four and walking zero.

Benton McGill took the loss for Dubois County Bombers. He surrendered three runs on three hits over two and a third innings, striking out three and walking zero.

Patrick Queener started the game for Dubois County Bombers. He went five innings, allowing two runs on two hits and striking out four Cam Barlow started the game for Hoptown Hoppers. He allowed nine hits and four runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out eight and walking zero. Hoptown Hoppers smacked one home run on the day. Evans put one out in the eighth inning. Hoptown Hoppers tallied seven hits. Micah Genter and Ben Huber all had multiple hits for Hoptown Hoppers. Huber and Genter each managed two hits to lead Hoptown Hoppers.

Dubois County Bombers totaled 11 hits. Best, Matt Joslin, and Hug all managed multiple hits for Dubois County Bombers.
