School gets back underway in the Christian County Public School System on August 7, and students are welcome to attend a Back to School Bash on August 10 and get school supplies while having fun.
Rose Jackson is part of the Hopkinsville Community Friends, which hosts the event and gathers all the supplies, and she appeared on WHOP Friday to invite students of all ages to attend. She says Christian County students can receive a backpack no matter what grade they are in, but to get one each student must register and get an armband.
Jackson says there will be free food, vendors, games, performances and informative booths for people to enjoy.
The bash—which is in partnership with the school system Family Resource Centers—grows more and more each year and Jackson says they expect to give away around 800 backpacks stuffed with school supplies this year. She says she knows first-hand how expensive school supplies can be, and this is the group’s way of helping those in need.
All supplies were gathered through donations and other fundraising efforts locally. For more information about the event, follow the Hopkinsville Community Friends on Facebook.
