MLB: Reds lose, Cards & Braves win Tuesday

A game that featured five home runs ended with an explosion. Corey Dickerson homered twice as the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Cincinnati Reds 11-4 at Great American Ballpark, but a bench-clearing brawl in the ninth and nine ejections will be the takeaway.

Reds reliever Amir Garrett charged the Pirates’ dugout to incite the brawl. The teams close out the series this afternoon.

Elsewhere in the National League: Paul Goldschmidt’s 25th homer of the season lifted the St. Louis Cardinals to a 2-1 win over the Chicago Cubs at Busch Stadium. The Cardinals now lead the Cubs by a game in the NL Central. The teams play again this evening.

The Atlanta Braves jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the fourth inning and hung on late to beat the Washington Nationals 11-8. Adam Duvall went 4-for-5 with two home runs and Josh Donaldson also went deep for Atlanta. The teams close out the series this afternoon at Nationals Park.
