Governor Matt Bevin’s pension relief bill is a step closer to becoming law.
The Senate State and Local Government Committee approved the measure, which would allow regional universities, health departments and other government agencies to opt out of the troubled state pension system.
Murray State University President Bob Jackson told the committee he’s not sure if the school would stay in the system.
He says it’s simply too soon to speculate on what Murray State’s final decision will be.
The House has already passed the bill. The full Senate is expected to vote on the measure Wednesday — bringing an end to the special session.
