Man charged with assault in Clarksville wreck

Clarksville police have charged a man with vehicular assault in the Saturday wreck that critically injured a motorcyclist on Fort Campbell Boulevard.

According to a news release, 23-year old Travis Burkhart had been operating a vehicle at the intersection of Fort Campbell Boulevard and Concord Drive around 10:30 p.m. Saturday. He reportedly attempted to make a left turn onto Concord and drove into the path of a motorcycle driven by 26-year old Jeffrey Clark of Arkansas, and the two collided.

Clark was taken to a Nashville hospital, where he is still in critical condition. Burkhart allegedly performed poorly on field sobriety tests and was charged with vehicular assault.  He is lodged in the Montgomery County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
