Campbellsville native JB Holmes had a three under par 68 and is tied with Shane Lowry for the lead going into Saturday’s third round of the Open Championship at Royal Portrush.

Holmes and Lowry stand at eight under par 134, leading Tommy Fleetwood and Lee Westwood, who are seven under 135 by a stroke, with three golfers at six under 136 including Justin Rose. Brooks Koepka and Jordan Spieth head a quartet at five under 137.

Louisville area native Justin Thomas had a one under 70 and sits at one under par, which is tied for 32nd. Nashville’s Brandt Snedeker had a 70 today and is at two over 143 and missed the cut. Other notables missing the cut included Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Phil Mickelson.

University of Kentucky sophomore to be Cullan Brown of Eddyville had a four under 68 Friday and stands at four under heading into Saturday’s third round of the PGA Tour’s Barbasol Championship at Champions at Keene Trace in Nicholasville.

Jim Herman shot his second straight 65 Friday and has the lead at 14 under 130, with Bill Haas one shot back at 13 under. Champions Tour player David Toms stands at 12 under par, with Lexington native Josh Teater at nine under 135 after two rounds.
