The special session of the Kentucky General Assembly to address pension relief for quasi-governmental agencies begins Friday morning and you can add Representative Lynn Bechler to the list of local lawmakers who will support the governor’s proposed bill.
The Republican from Marion says he wishes Governor Matt Bevin would have allowed the relief bill lawmakers passed during the regular session to become law.
Agencies such as local health departments and Sanctuary, Inc. will see their required pension contribution rate spike drastically without relief and Bechler says the bill gives those entities another year to make decisions for their long-term futures.
Bechler acknowledges those agencies couldn’t operate as they are with their new pension contribution rates, thus action by the General Assembly is required.
Bechler represents a portion of Christian and all of Caldwell, Crittenden and Livingston counties.
