Special judge appointed in Peveler cases

A special judge has been appointed in the cases of Seth and Hannah Peveler.

Seth Peveler is the former Hopkinsville High School band director accused of having multiple sexual encounters with students at his home and at the school in 2017 and 2018. He is charged with four counts of third-degree rape, four counts of third-degree sodomy and one count of unlawful transaction with a minor.

Hannah Peveler is his wife and is a former assistant commonwealth’s attorney accused of attempting to convince a witness to avoid testifying in an official court proceeding with intent to influence the outcome in the potential case. She is charged with three counts of tampering with a witness.

Local circuit judges John Atkins and Andrew Self recused themselves from the Peveler cases and an order came down Wednesday naming Circuit Judge James Jameson of Marshall County as the special judge.

Seth and Hannah Peveler are scheduled to be in court again September 4 for a pre-trial conference.
