Elkton receives grant for bike lane, sidewalk extension on Goebel Ave.

Elkton has received a Kentucky Transportation Cabinet grant of about $388,000 for its Goebel Avenue bike and pedestrian project.

City Clerk Laura Brock says the City of Elkton intends to purchase additional right-of-way where needed to widen the pavement on Goebel Avenue from approximately 17 to 23 feet wide to accommodate a bicycle lane and to install new sidewalks from existing sidewalks on Goebel Avenue to Allensville Street.

Total cost of the project is listed at $485,000.

Governor Matt Bevin and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced a $16.6 million investment Wednesday to fund 42 community projects statewide through the Commonwealth’s Transportation Alternatives Program.
