Two men were arrested in Hopkins County over the weekend for the alleged kidnapping of two adults and for improvised explosive devices used in commission of the crime.
Hopkins County sheriff’s deputies were called to a location on North Scott Street in White Plains Saturday regarding two missing persons who had left the previous night riding a side-by-side UTV, according to a news release.
While deputies were on scene, the 29-year old female and 20-year old male victims returned with visible injuries. They said they had been abducted at gunpoint after the driver of a van ran them off the road Friday night.
They were assaulted, placed in the van and taken to 325 Oglesby Cemetery Road in White Plains. The victims said they were bound, chained and placed in a hand-dug pit where they were threatened and shown homemade explosive devices for several hours before being released.
The suspects are identified as 48-year old Danny Massey and 22-year old Dustin Massey of White Plains and investigation determined Dustin was a suspect in a separate case where one of the victims had reported a crime.
A search warrant was obtained and police say homemade intact explosive devices and other components to manufacture bombs as well as evidence of the reported kidnapping were located on the Massey property.
Dustin and Danny Massey were arrested and charged with kidnapping of an adult and tampering with a witness.
Deputies believe there were witnesses who drove by on Farmers Crossing Road Friday night and witnessed the initial abduction. Anyone who believes they may have witnessed the crime is asked to call the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department.
