A Hopkinsville man was arrested for his second DUI following a hit and run collision Friday night at Canton Pike and Wooldridge Road.
A collision report from Hopkinsville Police Officer Michael Sandbrink says 26-year old Jeremias Gomez-Gomez of Hopkinsville was northbound on South Wooldridge and failed to yield the right of way to traffic on Canton, colliding with a westbound SUV operated by 42-year old Kelly Crick of Hopkinsville.
Gomez-Gomez fled the scene on foot, but was followed by a witness to a location where officers were able to take him into custody. An arrest citation says Gomez-Gomez registered a blood alcohol content of .220—nearly three times the legal limit.
He was arrested and charged with his second DUI, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to maintain insurance and driving with a suspended license.
No one was injured in the collision.
