The Hoptown Hoppers won for the sixth time in the last seven games Friday night edging Paducah 8-7 at Tiger Field. The Chiefs led 5-2 after four innings with the Hoppers scoring a run in the fifth to pull within 5-3. Then in the 7th inning, the Hoppers batted around including a grand slam home run by Charlie Fischer to take a 8-5 lead. The Chiefs would score twice in the ninth and left the tying run at first base.
Fischer went 3-4 with four RBI and Drew McGowan was 2-3. Ben Huber in relief of starter Zack Losey got the pitching win for Hoptown.
The Hoppers improved to 20-11 with the win while Paducah fell to 15-14 with the loss. The teams play at Brooks Stadium in Paducah Saturday evening at 6:30.
