The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a fatal collision on Eggners Ferry Road last Friday that killed a woman and her 12-year old daughter.
According to the sheriff’s department, investigation determined that a vehicle operated by 40-year old Autumn Lane of Benton was traveling west on Eggners Ferry Road when for unknown reasons, the vehicle dropped off the road. Lane overcorrected and the vehicle swerved into oncoming traffic.
It collided with a vehicle driven by Jeffery Kingkade of Owensboro. One of the vehicles caught fire and was extinguished by the Fairdealing-Olive Fire Department.
Lane and her 12-year old daughter, Hailey Lane, were both pronounced deceased at the scene. Kingkade was transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
