Oak Grove murder suspect appears in court

One of the suspects charged in the 2016 murder of 19-year old De’Andre Palmer in Oak Grove appeared Wednesday morning in Christian Circuit Court.

Dequavion James is scheduled for a January 20, 2020 trial and defense attorney David Rye requested a suppression hearing regarding some evidence in the case.

Judge John Atkins scheduled a hearing for Thursday, August 15 at 1 p.m.

Arrest warrants for James and Leonardo Miller allege they fatally shot Palmer in July of 2016. Police say they took cash and other items from Palmer’s pockets before putting his body in a closet. Palmer’s body was later moved from the residence and it was discovered a few days later by an Oak Grove police officer near Ghost Bridge on Carter Road.

The Commonwealth is seeking the death penalty in the case.
