Houston Astros ace Justin Verlander will start for the American League and Los Angeles Dodgers standout Hyun-Jin Ryu for the National League in tonight’s MLB All-Star Game at Progressive Field in Cleveland. It will be Verlander’s eighth All-Star game, but his first start since 2012 when he lost in Kansas City.
Ryu is a first-time All-Star and the first South Korean-native to start the Midsummer Classic. Ryu is 10-and-2 with a major league-best 1.73 ERA in 17 starts with the Dodgers. Verlander is 10-and-4 with a 2.98 ERA in 19 starts with the Astros. The American League has won six straight in the series and is 18-3-and-1 in the last 22 Midsummer Classics.
