Hopkinsville man facing several charges following foot pursuit

A Hopkinsville man is facing several charges following a brief foot pursuit on Hart Road early Monday morning.

According to a report from the Christian County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to the 10000 block of Hart Road for complaints of an unwanted guest. Upon arrival, contact was made with 45-year old Robert Preston of Hopkinsville, who allegedly had an arrest warrant for felony probation violation.  When deputies attempted to take him into custody, Preston allegedly fled, ignoring commands to stop.

He was eventually stopped through use of a taser, but allegedly continued to ignore commands and attempted to stand up and continue fleeing. He was placed onto a couch where he was then handcuffed and taken into custody.

A small plastic baggie containing a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine was found on the couch after the arrest.

Preston is charged with fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest and possession of meth, along with the felony probation violation warrant.
