UK’s Wilson plans tribute to Lorenzen for 2019 season opener

Kentucky quarterback Terry Wilson is planning a tribute to the late Wildcat signal caller Jared Lorenzen, who died earlier this week. According to Cats Pause.com, Wilson took to social media seeking opinions on whether he should wear Lorenzen’s number 22 in the season opener August 31st against Toledo at Kroger Field. Fans overwhelmingly said yes.

It’s not the first time a Kentucky player has worn another’s number in a game. Randall Cobb did it in 2008, wearing Dicky Lyons’ number 12 in a 21-20 win over Arkansas, catching two fourth quarter touchdowns. Lyons had been injured in the prior game against South Carolina, which ended his Wildcat career.
