HHS Band announces new directors, marching band season coming up

The Hopkinsville High School Band of Tigers is gearing up for their next season and have a new director and two new assistant directors to help it get underway.

The previous assistant director, Grant Jones, is stepping up to the plate and will act as Band Director for the award winning band. New this year, the band announced that Nick Calcamuggio and Elizabeth Wechtenhiser will be assistant directors.

Calcamuggio comes from Covington, Indiana, where he was the Director of Bands and Choir for the last three years. He holds a Bachelors in Music Education from Murray State University and a Master of Music Performance in Wind Conducting from the University of Louisville.

Wechtenhiser is a recent graduate of Murray State University with a Bachelors in Music Education, where she was named the 2019 Most Outstanding Senior for the Department of Music. She comes from the Murray Independent School System, where she served as a woodwind instructor for the Murry High School and Murray Middle School band programs.

The marching band competition begins soon as band students from both Hopkinsville High School and Christian County High School will soon start reporting for band camp within the next couple of weeks. To stay up-to-date with both programs, follow them on Facebook.
