Police: Distracted driving may have led to accident that killed Clarksville woman

A Clarskville woman was killed Tuesday night in a two-vehicle accident and distracted driving may have been a factor.

Metro Nashville Police say 34-year old Heather Adkins of Clarksville rear-ended a dump truck that was preparing to turn into a construction zone near the Old Hickory Boulevard-Interstate 24 interchange at about 10:15 p.m. Tuesday.

She was not wearing her seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say based on the location of her cell phone, she may have been using it at the time of the crash. The driver and a passenger in the dump truck were not injured.
