The second annual Fourth of July Bike Parade was Thursday morning on the grounds of the Todd County Middle School in Elkton.
Envisioned last year by Elkton resident Emily Carroll, the parade had registered 65 kids who proudly displayed patriotically festooned bikes, scooters, strollers and wagons. The parade route was safely in the confines of the school’s road, sidewalk and bus loading area.
Carroll spearheaded this year’s event which she described as “a fun and memorable way to celebrate and be thankful for our country.”
Following the parade, the Elkton Fire Department was on hand to provide a refreshing spray of water for the children and parents to cool off. The Elkton Police Department provided an extra security presence by closing access to the school grounds during the parade.
Water, juices and cookies were provided for all in attendance.
