Previously unidentified Korean War vet to be buried in Hopkinsville

A Korean War veteran who was killed in action in 1950 and remained unidentified until recently will soon be buried in Kentucky Veterans’ Cemetery West.

According to an obituary from Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home, Private First Class James Cletuis Williams was killed in action at 19-years old in the Korean War in 1950. He was previously buried as a Korean War Unknown in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu, Hawaii. Following extensive investigation, he was successfully identified in 2018.

PFC Williams is set to arrive at the Nashville International Airport on July 17, when his body will be escorted to the funeral home. There will be graveside services to honor his life and service at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West with full military honors at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 19.

Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home invites all who would like to pay respect to this fallen hero, the opportunity to pick up an American Flag in honor of PFC Williams at their location on Country Club Lane. People are asked to display the flags along the procession route.

The procession will begin at 12 p.m. on July 19, leaving from Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home going east on Country Club Lane to Fort Campbell Boulevard. It will then head south on Fort Campbell Boulevard to Kentucky Veteran’s Cemetery West.
