The Fourth of July holiday driving period has traditionally been a deadly time on Kentucky roads and state police will be out in full force this week hoping to make the Commonwealth a safer place to drive.
Trooper Corey King says the summertime holiday puts a lot of extra people on the roads and that alone creates an extra danger.
He says they’ll be doing pro-active patrols to cite motorists driving unsafe and to arrest anyone driving impaired.
Trooper King reiterates there’s no excuse to drive home from a celebration drunk with so many options to find a safe ride.
KSP reminds motorists to wear their seatbelt, to slow down in construction and heavy traffic areas, to move over for first responders on the shoulder of the road, and to eliminate distractions when driving.
