Madisonville man facing several charges after incidents

Madisonville police arrested a man for DUI, assault of a police officer and other charges following an incident early Monday morning.

Officers received a complaint at the Love’s Truck Stop in Hanson regarding a man who had been screaming and beating on the counter. The suspect, identified as 49-year old Tyrone Purce of Madisonville, left the area in a semi truck and took Exit 114 off Interstate 69.

Madisonville police received information that he was driving recklessly in the area of Brown Road and Eastside Lane and he allegedly refused to stop when officers made contact with him on foot.

A news release says he was erratic and cussed and yelled at officers as he continued to walk away. Tasers were used to take him into custody and he reportedly kicked the cruiser door and window once he was placed under arrest.

Purce was charged with DUI, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and third-degree assault of a police officer.
