One killed, one severely injured in Madisonville accident

A woman was killed and a man was severely injured in a wreck Saturday night in Madisonville.

It happened a few minutes after 6 p.m. and Madisonville police say 85-year old Wilma Crowell of Madisonville failed to yield the right of way when she tried to turn left from Island Ford Road onto the Interstate 69 entrance ramp.

She drove into the path of a southbound car operated by 37-year old Dane Branscum of Madisonville and their vehicles collided in the intersection.

Crowell was flown to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, where she died from her injuries. Her passenger, 73-year old Silas Matthew Long of Newburg, Indiana, was flown to St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville with serious injuries.

Branscum was not hurt in the crash.
