Man arrested on multiple charges following hit and run

A local man was charged with DUI and leaving the scene of an accident following a hit and run Friday afternoon on Fort Campbell Boulevard.

It happened just before 4 p.m. at Clinic Drive, with the collision report saying 35-year old John Foster of Hopkinsville was southbound on the Boulevard when he failed to stop at a red light.

He struck an eastbound vehicle operated by 39-year old Deanna Howell of Hopkinsville, who had a green light as she crossed the Boulevard from Clinic.

Foster fled the scene on foot and caught a ride in another car and was later found at a location on Lafayette Road with the assistance of a witness. An arrest citation says he was manifestly under the influence of alcohol and became belligerent with officers.

He reportedly claimed he was an active member of a gang and said he was ‘street.’  The report says Foster made threats against the arresting officers and against their families if they came to the restaurant where he works. He was taken to the Jennie Stuart Medical Center emergency room for medical clearance and reportedly continued to be belligerent.

Foster was lodged in the Christian County jail and charged with DUI, leaving the scene of an accident, driving on a suspended license, driving without insurance, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

A passenger in his car, 22-year old Erica Pilot of Hopkinsville, was taken by ambulance to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries. Howell complained of minor injuries, but refused a trip to the hospital.
