The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado touched down near Trenton last Friday night and that one of the tornadoes in Christian County was on the ground for longer than first thought.

An EF0 tornado touched down along Hammacksville Road south of Trenton last Friday just before 7 p.m.

It packed winds of about 85 mph, was 60 yards wide and was on the ground for 2.8 miles until it went back into the clouds about four miles southeast of Trenton.

The twister tracked through cornfields and also uprooted trees and broke large limbs off others.

There is drone footage of the tornado and other photos captured by eye witnesses.

Meanwhile, an updated report says one of the EF1 tornadoes that hit Christian County at about 6:30 p.m. began in a cornfield along KY 164 north of Peedee, where a large amount of corn was blown down.

It continued east and southeast, collapsing a barn and then about a dozen homes. One small guest home was destroyed along Striped Bridge Road.

The tornado with 105 mph winds remained on the ground for 7.6 miles before lifting just west of the Pennyrile Parkway-Interstate 24 interchange.

No one was injured in any of the severe weather.
