Pennyrile Electric hosts 82nd annual meeting

Pennyrile Electric hosted its 82nd annual meeting in a packed fairgrounds convention center Tuesday night.

Several speakers commended the hard work of linemen who went out in inclement weather over the weekend and safely restored power after severe thunderstorms put thousands of members in the dark.

It was also noted that linemen from partner cooperatives in Kentucky came to the area to provide mutual aid.

Pennyrile President and CEO Alan Gates says there will be a $2 increase to the customer charge on bills, effective October 1, while the actual energy cost will drop slightly—meaning how your bill changes will depend on how much electricity you use in a given month.

TVA Kentucky President Ernie Peterson says he anticipates their wholesale rates remaining steady.

Trigg County Sheriff Jason Barnes performed the National Anthem and Brent Gilkey with Pennyrile recognized all of the cooperative’s scholarship winners.

Ben and Noel Haggard provided entertainment following the meeting.
