Chamber recognizes accomplishments, looks to future at annual dinner

It was a night of recognition, conversation and looking to the future at the Christian County Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting and Dinner Monday evening.

The entertainment for the evening was Kentucky Sports Radio Host Matt Jones and Runswitch PR Founding Partner and CNN Political Commentator Scott Jennings, who were interviewed in a panel style setting. They spoke at length about the state of politics in Kentucky with a focus on the governor’s race—often to laughter, applause or cordial disagreement from the crowd.

Chamber President Kelli Pendleton says the chamber accomplished a lot in the last year, but they also continue to look ahead to the future, including advocating for tax reform at the state level.

This year, there was a new venture presentation where the Chamber of Commerce paid back the membership fees for their youngest chamber member—Dj Bailey of Dj’s Famous Lemonade—to put back into his business and continue to flourish. Bailey says the Chamber has helped his business grow and they always have his back.

Outgoing Board Chair Jerod Kaufman says the Chamber, along with the community’s help, will always aim to help Christian County grow and prosper in a multitude of ways.

Melissa Spurr was named the Young Professional of the Year and is now the 2019-2020 Board Chair for the Chamber of Commerce. The Bob Kelso Ambassador of the Year Award winner is Nelson Dossett and Rich Maddux took home the President’s Award.
