Woman hurt after vehicle hits deer on I-24

A vehicle-versus-deer collision on I-24 in Lyon County early Sunday morning injured a passenger.

It happened about 5:30 a.m., according to Kentucky State Police, who say 21-year old Samantha Hamilton of Murray was eastbound near the 38 mile-marker when the deer appeared from the median.

Hamilton was unable to avoid striking the animal and a passenger—41-year old Sara Johnson of Murray—was taken by ambulance to Caldwell County Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Everyone in the vehicle was wearing a seat belt, according to KSP.
