The Guthrie Police Department hosted its annual 3 on 3 basketball tournament Saturday to build positive relationships between officers and the local youth.
Chief Dean Blumel came up with the idea and has organized the event the last four years. He says, “This tournament is a great way to build key relationships with the youth of our great town, so that they know that Police are here to protect and serve the community.”
He thanked Red Top BBQ for providing free hot dogs and hamburgers, Tinker Conklin for making t-shirts for the officers and referees and he thanked the parents who brought their kids and supported them.
Chief Blumel says the successful tournament wouldn’t be possible without everyone who supports it.
