Man arrested for assault of ex-wife, baby

A man was arrested on multiple charges Tuesday morning after he allegedly assaulted a woman and child.

Hopkinsville police responded to a Sharpe Street home at about 1:30 a.m. regarding a possible burglary in progress and determined it was actually a domestic violence incident. Officers found 23-year old Patricia Hathaway of Salmanaca, New York holding a one-year old baby with blood on her chest.

She reportedly said her ex-husband, 36-year old David Graham of Hopkinsville, had choked her while she was sleeping. Hathaway did not know where the blood came from, but further examination determined the baby’s lip was busted and swollen.

Graham was still inside the home and a Christian County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit had to be called when he refused to come out on his own.

An arrest citation says there were “marijuana pipes and several open containers” out in plain view.

Graham was arrested for second-degree assault and fourth-degree assault—both domestic violence charges, in addition to possession of drug paraphernalia.

Hathaway was cited into court for abuse or neglect of a child for allowing the infant to live in the home.

Note: A jail booking photo was not available for Graham early Tuesday morning.
