Judge modifies bond for one suspect in Todd County murder case

Bond has been reduced for one of the five suspects charged in connection with the September, 2018 murder of Jerry Robertson on Stateline Road near Allensville.

Daniel Westbrook, Douglas Cropper, Timmie Latham, Faith Martin and Brandi Scruggs appeared in Todd Circuit Court Wednesday morning and Commonwealth’s Attorney Neil Kerr presented their attorneys with additional evidence in the case.

Latham and Martin asked for a reduced bond amount, which Kerr opposed.

Judge Tyler Gill inquired about their role in the alleged crime and Kerr said they conspired to help get Robertson to the scene of the crime, the only question is whether they intended for him to be murdered or assaulted.

Judge Gill reduced Martin’s bond to $20,000 cash, but denied Latham’s request due to his criminal history.

Martin will have to stay with her grandmother in Bowling Green if she makes bail and would be under several restrictions.

Martin and Latham have signed a release to be represented by the same attorney—Ken Garrett—who will take over those duties if there’s no opposition from the other lawyers in the next 10 days.

Another pre-trial conference was set for July 31st and the trial date of November 13 remains in place.

Westbrook allegedly shot Robertson three times after Scruggs drove the victim in a car to an area just north of KY 848 on Stateline Road. A pickup occupied by Westbrook and the three other suspects passed the car and then stopped in their path of travel, according to the KSP warrant, which says all five suspects fled in the pickup after Westbrook fired the weapon that Cropper provided to him.

Westbrook is charged with murder, while the other four are charged with complicity to murder and additional related counts.
